Dr. Felipe Paredes

Felipe Paredes holds a Law Degree from the Universidad Austral de Chile (UACh) and a PhD in Law from Pompeu Fabra University in Spain. He also completed an Advanced Master’s in Legal Sciences and holds a Diploma in University Teaching.

He is currently the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Legal and Social Sciences at UACh and an Associate Professor at the Institute of Public Law within the same university. His academic work focuses on Constitutional Law, Human Rights, and the Rule of Law.

He has led research projects such as the FONDECYT Initiation Project No. 11150828 on proportionality and deference in constitutional review, and the ANID-funded project FOVI210067, “Strengthening Citizen Participation at the Local and Regional Level: The Case of Citizens’ Assemblies.” He has also served as co-researcher in international collaborations, including projects in Brazil on ethical-legal frameworks for neurohuman rights (CNPq 677394) and on democratic transition, violence, and human rights (CNPq 632632).

Felipe Paredes is the author and editor of several specialized books, including Rule of Law and Violence Against Indigenous Peoples in Latin America (2023), (2023), Theory of the Constitution and Foundations of Institutional Order (2020), and The Judicial Protection of Fundamental Rights (2014). His academic articles have been published in prestigious indexed journals such as Revista de Derecho Político (2023), Anuario Mexicano de Derecho Internacional (2021) and Cuestiones Constitucionales.
