The article examines the criminological, victimological, and protective factors present in cases involving children who engage in behaviors comparable to criminal offenses, drawing on the perspectives of Family Court professionals. Using a qualitative approach, the study analyzes the experiences and contexts that shape these trajectories, considering individual, family, interpersonal, and contextual factors.
Among its main findings, the research identifies a close relationship between factors associated with offending behavior and experiences of victimization and rights violations. These include situations of domestic violence, neglect and abandonment, difficulties in caregiving environments, institutional violence, and adverse socioeconomic conditions.
Based on these findings, the article highlights the importance of understanding these cases from a comprehensive perspective, jointly considering trajectories of victimization, developmental contexts, and risk and protective factors. This approach broadens the understanding of early offending behavior by incorporating both the protection of rights and processes of accountability involving children and their families.
