The article analyzes the experience of establishing a Restorative Criminal Mediation Center, whose aim is to transform traditional criminal justice into a more humane and effective model. It describes the design, implementation, and evaluation of the Center, highlighting the importance of offering alternatives to the traditional punitive system through dialogue and reparation for the harm caused. The article shows how restorative criminal mediation can address not only the needs of victims, but also those of offenders, promoting consensual solutions and a shared sense of justice. It also emphasizes the principles underlying this approach — voluntariness, confidentiality, and the active role of the parties involved — and describes some of the challenges faced during implementation.
